Introducing PhpZon Beta – Amazon Affiliate Plugin for WordPress

The creator of PhpBay has been behind the scenes working on a new WordPress plugin for Amazon Affiliates which is to be called PhpZon. It is currently in beta (pre-release) stage.
When complete, PhpZon will have many of the rich features you have already found in phpBay. Items like the paging option, SEO Urls, etc. The good news is that you can run both plugins on the same blog as well as in the same post. Trust me, if you like PhpBay, you are going to love PhpZon.
This is an awesome solution for everyone who is looking to diversify their income stream on their sites. For just about every type of item you can find on eBay, there is sure to be something useful you can find to compliment it on Amazon.
This is also a great solution to building niche sites for anyone who has been terminated from the eBay affiliate program.
If you already own PhpBay, you can buy and download a copy of the beta version of PhpZon in the member store for $3o. If you get it now, you lock in this price forever and this is all you will ever pay. Once it comes to full release, the price will be $49.
The catch is, you must already own PhpBay to get the pre-release $3o price. The full release is coming sometime within the next few weeks.
I know some of you are already using it on your sites. What are your thoughts about PhpZon?
Below you can see an example of how it currently looks. I couldn't think of anything right off for a product to compliment this site so I chose a line of books from one of my favorite authors, James Patterson. The man definitely has a talent for spinning great stories.

I’m tempted to pick up phpZon, just as an alternative. But Amazon’s 24-hour affiliate cookie annoys me to no end.
If they would jack that cookie length to meet eBay’s 7-day one, I don’t know if there would be an eBay affiliate left…

I agree. I bounced back and forth deciding whether or not to even get it. And all because of the 24 hour cookie.
In the end, I decided to go ahead. I hate missing out on a lower price and thought I’d give Amazon another try.
I wish they would up the cookie length as well. Hate that it expires so fast. I haven’t kept up with the Amazon affiliate program, though have been a member for years.
I don’t know. Even I have been fed up ever since they moved from CJ, but I’d have a hard time giving up eBay.
However, if they keep shooting themselves in the foot, there may not be much choice.

I wish I would have found this a while ago. Is it still possible to get a copy of the beta or is the full release coming out soon? I’m struggling to find a download…

Uggh, somehow I missed what you said about owning PHPBay in your post. Sorry about that…

Hello Melissa,
phpbay is an awesome plugin. phpzon follows right behind as being one of the best money making plugins for Wordpress. I must say I agree about the short duration cookie, perhaps that may change. Amazons sales for 4 QTR 2008 were great, it is a good site to advertise for!

You just never know. Amazon may have a change of heart in the future, but it’s hard to say. They may feel we, as affiliates, should engage our traffic enough that they should be ready to buy when they head to Amazon. I have to say, the more I use phpZon, the more I love it!

Melissa,
On the subject of Amazon….
Do you use any of the widgets from the site, or solely phpzon? If so, which ones?
I’ve had an Amazon account for awhile, but just got back into it. I’ve been playing around with the search widget, it seems to have some flexibility over phpzon. (until the update comes out)

Hi Tony,
Currently, I only use the phpZon plugin. I have not tried to use any of the widgets from Amazon but will be looking into what they offer very soon.

I checked on phpbay and see no mention of phpzon. Zon is exactly what I have been looking for, since my bro is too lazy to make it for me
I might just bite the bullet and get phpbay and see if it is available

Hi Melissa,
I’ve been experimenting with the “search widget”. It seems fairly flexible, if you play around with keywords a bit.

I wrote Amazon an email awhile back, when ePN first started pulling their crap with affiliates, asking them if they could possibly increase their cookie length (the 1 day, 1 purchase guillotine is a killer). I got a nice response back saying it was always a possibility. I told them many ePN affiliates would jump ship if given something equal in length to ePN. I think if more would contact Amazon requesting it, it might happen.
As for myself, 1 day or not, I’ve reached my limit with this new QPC garbage ePN has instituted. More for them, less for us – and nobody has a clue on how to improve themselves or what they will be paid from day to day because ePN refuses to give a straight answer.
