Adding A Privacy Policy To Your PhpBay Site

I haven't talked about this before, but it is something all of you need to be aware of. If you display Adsense or eBay auctions on your website, you may not be aware that both companies require you to have a Privacy Policy on your site. As well, many affiliate networks and individual programs require them so it is just good practice to have one regardless of the platform you used to build it.

I have been hearing of people losing their affiliate accounts right and left after hand reviews simply because there was no Privacy Policy on their website. So if you do not have one, I would advise getting one on your sites as soon as possible.

If you built your site using WordPress, there is a great plugin you can use to automatically add a Privacy Policy to your site located here:
http://www.synclastic.com/plugins/privacy-policy/

This plugin automatically creates a privacy policy as well as the page for it on your WordPress site. It appears to have all of the details that both Adsense and the eBay Partner Network require in a Privacy Policy and is general enough for any affiliate programs you might be using as well.

It only takes a few seconds to set this up and is critical to have in place if you want to keep your affiliate status. Don't risk it, get these in place before something happens.

  1. People list the weirdest things on ebay.

  2. Yes, they do. Can’t tell you how many times I wish I’d thought of some of the clever ideas I’ve seen.

One of the funniest things I think I ever saw was a man who was trying to sell his phone number which was 867-5309.

Now if you’re familiar with 80’s music, you’ll remember there was a song with that number in the title. The poor guy was tired of all the crank calls. The bids were up to over $100,000 for the number until Verizon had eBay pull the auction as they technically owned the number.
