PhpBay Site Build – Second Month Stats

We have now reached the two month mark since I built GorgeousForLess.com in the PhpBay Site Build. My where does the time go?

As you know, my plans were to grow this site slowly and steadily to turn it into the monster it is on the way to becoming, however - at the last minute I was forced to take another direction. With what I had to do, I am positive that the site is headed right straight for the "sandbox". But as you will see, it had to be done.

The other thing I need for you all to understand is that I built the site simply for the pleasure of doing so. As well, it was built to show you just one of the many ways of using the phpBay Pro plugin.

I still have not promoted the site in any way. I promised you all that I would take you for that ride with me so you can see the steps I take. All I did over the last month was make posts and let WordPress do the pinging.

Having said that, I hope you all read the latest News Update post. If you have not done so, please do. You will see that I was contacted by a news reporter in Buffalo, New York who was doing a story and had found my site(s). 3 years ago, I had started a Blogger blog offering the same type of advice I was starting on GorgeousForLess.

When the story ran, both sites began to see a drastic spike in traffic. I was noticing that visitors were bouncing back and forth between sites, so I had the brilliant idea to import all of my Blogger content into GorgeousForLess. Piece of advice, don't ever do this unless you just have to.

However, even knowing I would probably get slapped for a duplicate content penalty, I decided to do this for all of the new visitors coming to the site. Importing the content has made it easier for them to find the information all in one spot and gives them a place to return to find new tips.

So what did all of this mean in the second month for our "baby"? Let's take a look at the stats we will see.

The first image is again from the top of AWStats. It is the general site traffic from 08/01/08 to 08/31/08. Please click on the image to see it full size.

337 visitors this month for an increase of 223 visitors. Not bad at all considering there was not promotion done on my part.

This third image shows the duration of visitors on the site. The goal for this month was to increase time per visitor on the site which, according to the stats, shows that goal was met. Again, please click on the image to view it full size.

This image shows how many visitors came from a search engine and specifically, which ones. As you will see, this is a nice increase over last month. The rest were either direct visitors or they arrived from the RSS Feed. Please click the image to enlarge it.

So did the site make any money? Yes, but not much. lol  Again, I really did not expect it to not having done any promotion. However there were a lot of clicks last month. The last shot is from the EPN report running from Aug. 1 to Aug. 31. Click to view full size.

This month I will be starting promotion for this site and it will be quite interesting to see how the stats differ next month. There is truly a lot of great stuff in the works and one item in particular, I think you all are going to love. Stay tuned!
