The Site Got Hacked
Hello everyone. If you visited here over the weekend - namely Saturday - you will have seen that my site had been hacked.
The hack changed the homepage and my login info. Upon first examining the files, I could not find the corrupt index.php file so submitted a ticket to my host. They were kind enough to remove the offending index.php file and I was able to get to my database and change the username and password.
Luckily, not much damage was done. However, I just wanted to let everyone who had visited know what happened.

That is sure a downer. I’m glad to hear you were able to get it fixed and back up without any major issues.
It makes me wonder why people feel the need to hack websites, especially blogs.

Thanks, I appreciate that.
Though there was nothing major, I did find a few other minor things so I have been spending my time going over everything – and I do mean everything – with a fine tooth comb. This is one of the reasons I haven’t posted as much since this happened.
I often wonder the same thing myself. 90% of the time it is people doing it just because they can. All I can say is they must have way too much time on their hands. I can think of a million other things I’d rather do than hack websites.

I’m sure you must have felt traumatized. I know I would. Its like some guy walking into your home without u knowing.

You are so correct. It has always made me angry that people want to do things like that. But, it’s the nature of the internet, I suppose.

Sorry to hear that, I know how that feels and the aftermath. Just keep a close eyes cause they will alwyas come back to check if you’ve secured the network. Funny but its true.

Thanks.
Believe me, I know they will check back. Doing all that I can at this point. Good luck to us both.

pity they can not put their expertise to help the world rather than hurt innocent people like yourself giving great help–I hate them!!

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Believe me, if I had the kind of expertise and knowledge some of them have, I’d be releasing my own software and doing all kinds of cool things – not sabotaging others. What a waste of talent.

So sad for what happened. I might get angry too if that happens to me. Anyway, I wish you all the luck and so happy for you.
