PR Update Is In Progress

I don't know about the rest of you, but I noticed this morning that a PageRank update is obviously in progress. You might want to go check your sites.

Most of my sites are fluctuating up and down. Will be interesting to see how things settle out once it is complete. And for the record, I expect to see this blog take a hit. I'll post my theories on that a little later.

So how have you fared?

  1. PR dosen’t really matter anyway. It is only a good way to determine when links are very good. I look at PR when seeing if I want to exchange links with people otherwise I dont care.

  2. I agree with Kevin, PageRank isn’t what it used to be. Now it seems to be a hyped up way of telling others how important your site it. Same goes for Alexa rankings.

I also look at PR when trading links however. Mostly because it gives you a heads up on whether or not a site has good standing.

  3. Believe me, I agree. PR is definitely not what it used to be.

And I will agree it’s a nice benefit to get links from other sites with good PR. But when it comes to link building, it’s not the be all end all. Don’t discount the lower PR sites.

Let me just say this -

If I had to make a choice between a link from a PR6 site with virtually no traffic and a link from a PR0 site that gets hundreds or even thousands of visitors a day, I’ll take the PR0 link every time.

Most would advise against that and call me crazy, but those same people are not thinking outside the box and looking at the bigger picture.

I’ll be detailing a lot more about my findings on this in an upcoming post and I hope you guys will stick around for it.
